I had my XIMB interview on 4th March.
My slot was at 9 o clock. I had not taken leave from office as I hoped that the ordeal will be over in a 3-4 hours and my office was at 1:30 pm.
I was a bit nervous as this was my first interview of the season. I had a bar of KitKat as breakfast and boarded an auto to XIM.
Entered the gates at 8:45 am. Found a couple of known people in the lobby.Chatted merrily . There were 6 people including 2 ladies. We were called for GD.
Topic was -"Beauty and brains go together".
There was some examples of miss india , miss worlds. Then I talked abt beauty being subjective..so on
The gd was cut very short-
-abt 8 min.
Then came PI. The person before me said that the panel was very cool.
There were 3 people in the panel including a lady.
Me : good Morning
P2:please sit
P2: (Looking at a paper),So u have 18th months work ex at infy.
me: Now it is 20 months.
p3: Why Infosys after civil engineering..
Me: sir Jobmarket was job ,,dint get a civil engg job..
P3: but constuctin sector is booming now right?
me : yes sir.
p1: what do you do in ur free time?
me : Maam I play harmonica and I read books especially non fiction..
p1: what is the recent once u have read
ME : maam it is a book about the influence NGOs have over policy making of the govt..
(Gave soem examples from the book)
P1: Where do you stay/
ME:told
P1: What are yourhangout places in bhubaneswar
me: Mostly Big Bazar(!!)
p1: Where do you eat out...what type of food u like ... you have your meals outside!! isnt it difficult(THe Madam was very caring :) ,,,no gyan till now)
me: answered
(Non-civil enggs plsexcse the use of jargons from here on)
p3: (for the first time),...So you are from civil engg
What are your fav subjects
me: structures and geotechnics
p1: went to have some coffee,,offered me some (how nice!)
p3: at leasthow many members does a stable truss need. Then he asked to draw the Mohr's circle and mark the principal planes...
Me:I fumbled,,had forgotten all those stuf
p3: asked some simpler questions on bending moment diagram,asked to draw the BMD for some simple loadings
Me: Answered
THe interview was a sort of baat cheet except for some gyan testing by p3 (where i fared badly). The process was wonderfully short. I stepped into the campus at 8:45 and was out by 10:00 ,I being the fourth person to be interviewed!!
As I write this by now, the results are out and I am thru!!
